Cat Ailments and Symptoms
Cat Ailments
I would advise that you seek veterinary treatment if your cat has any of the symptoms below:
Symptom: Sneezing, runny eyes and nose
Symptom: Diarrhoea and sickness
Symptom: Not eating
Symptom: Lethargic
Symptom: Abscess
Symptom: Collapse, Shaking
Symptom: Limping
Symptom: Bleeding
Symptom: Sunburn
Always consult your vet sooner rather than later. Especially with a young kitten - you have less time than with an older cat as the immune system of a kitten is weaker. Dehydration is extremely dangerous. You will soon get to know your kitten and will be able to spot when all is not well. Don’t wait. Your vet will be able to take your kittens temperature, and assess the situation in a few minutes. Give your vet as much information as you can - what you fed the kitten, what time, how long after was it sick, have you seen it drink any water? How long did it fit for? Try and keep a note of the time.
There are a number of Feliway products on the market that can help keep cats calm in certain situations. There is a plug in diffuser with refills available and a spray. Feliway is a feline facial pheromone, which mimics the cat's natural pheromones, creating a state of well-being and calmness. In stressful situations Feliway will create a reassuring environment which will calm your cat and stop such problems as scratching, excessive grooming, urine spraying, restoring your cats health and happiness. Essential for a happy multi-cat household, one diffuser will cover 50-70 sq.m. of space. Therefore, please check your house size as you may need more than one.
